Activity Flow

Materials: A bright colored rattle, a soft blanket or cushion.

Sit comfortably with your child in the middle of the living room or on a soft rug. Show them the colorful rattle, shake it to grab their attention, and create excitement by saying, "Look how beautifully it sounds!" Move the rattle slowly to the left and right, encouraging them to track it with their head and eyes. Then, hide the rattle behind your back, in your hand, or under a cushion, and make it sound. Ask, "Where is the rattle? Where is the sound coming from?" and wait for your child to locate the source of the sound and reveal the rattle. Congratulate them enthusiastically when they find it. Finally, give the rattle to your child; as they shake it, clap your hands to the rhythm and sing songs to them.
